Instructions

1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain off any fat.
2. Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the beef mixture. Stir until combined and bring to a simmer.
3. Grease a 6-quart slow cooker. Spread a thin layer of the beef mixture in the bottom of the slow cooker.
4. Arrange a single layer of lasagne noodles on top of the beef.
5. Spread half of the ricotta cheese over the noodles. Sprinkle 2 cups of the mozzarella cheese over the ricotta cheese.
6. Pour half of the remaining beef mixture over the cheese.
7. Repeat the layering with the remaining noodles, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, and beef mixture.
8. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese over the top.
9. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4-5 hours, or until the noodles are cooked through.
10. Sprinkle the chopped basil over the top before serving.

Equipment

For this recipe, you'll need a large skillet, a 6-quart slow cooker, and measuring cups and spoons.

Notes

For a heartier lasagne, you can add other ingredients such as cooked sausage, mushrooms, or spinach. You can also use different cheeses such as provolone, cheddar, or Gouda. If you like your lasagne saucier, you can add an additional can of tomato sauce.
