Ingredients

  • 1 package (3.4 ounces) Jello Cook & Serve Chocolate Pudding Mix
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Begin by preparing the pudding according to package directions. In a large saucepan, combine the pudding mix, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and comes to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate chips until they are melted and the pudding is smooth. Pour the pudding into a 9-inch pie plate and spread evenly. Place in the refrigerator and chill until set, about 2 hours.

Next, make the meringue. In a medium bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy. Add the sugar, cream of tartar, and salt, and continue to beat until stiff, glossy peaks form. Spread the meringue over the chilled pudding, making sure to seal the edges. Place the pie in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for about 15 minutes, or until the meringue is lightly browned.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before serving. Enjoy!
