Description

Korean short ribs, also known as galbi, are a popular dish in Korean cuisine. This slow cooker version is a delicious and easy way to enjoy this classic dish. The ribs are cooked in a savory marinade with garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil, giving them a signature flavor. The ribs are cooked for several hours in the slow cooker until they are fall-off-the-bone tender. Serve the ribs with steamed rice and vegetables for a complete meal.

Ingredients

For the marinade:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
For the ribs:
  • 2 pounds beef short ribs
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, diced

Instructions

1. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, garlic, and black pepper to make the marinade.

2. Place the short ribs in a large bowl and pour the marinade over the ribs. Use your hands to mix the marinade with the ribs, making sure the ribs are evenly coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ribs to the skillet and brown on all sides, about 4 minutes per side. Transfer the ribs to the slow cooker.

4. Add the diced onion to the slow cooker. Pour the remaining marinade over the ribs.

5. Cook the ribs in the slow cooker for 6-8 hours on low or 3-4 hours on high. The ribs are done when they are fall-off-the-bone tender.

6. Serve the ribs with steamed rice and vegetables. Enjoy!
