  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

For the lasagne:

  • 1 package no-cook lasagne noodles
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

To make the tomato sauce: Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the tomatoes, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

To make the cheese sauce: Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly, until the sauce is thick and smooth. Add the garlic powder, nutmeg, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add the mozzarella cheese and stir until melted. Remove from heat and set aside.

To assemble the lasagne: Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with oil or butter. Spread 1/2 cup of the tomato sauce in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Top with a layer of lasagne noodles. Spread 1/2 cup of the cheese sauce over the noodles. Top with 1/2 cup of the tomato sauce. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of the Parmesan cheese over the sauce. Repeat the layers in the same order, ending with the Parmesan cheese.

Bake the lasagne for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
